Good chance I'll be shooting state highschool football championships down there. Just wondering what the lighting conditions were like there. I'm sure with it being a new stadium they don't suck, but hoping I can get away with ISO 800 or 1600 max? Got a loaner 400/2.8 from Canon for the event, but still stuck with my cameras and don't know if the paper will splurge for a 1D4 rental or not. So it's either 20D (1600 max) or 5DII shooting sports. While I don't mind the 5DII, I tend to use my 20D because of the speed... but over 1600 just ain't possible.

I am by no means a professional or an expert but I have spent many hours in Lucas Oil Stadium and probably taken 1,000 snapshots there. A few things to be aware of in there, the lighting will change dramatically as the day progresses (if it is a day event). I will think that it will be with the roof closed. Be careful about how much of the glass walls you catch depending on the angles you are shooting at. (Most people would call them windows, but when they are that big they are walls) Thanks to HD Television the lighting is very even in there. I did not have any problems with the lighting color/temp changing but I was shooting with a P&S PowerShot950. I do not remember seeing any photo strobes, but it has been a couple of years since I was there and I was busy looking at other things.

These three photos were all taken the same day at about the same location, no processing SooC.

It is a very nice stadium in terms of over all look.
