third-party lenses on nikons

hi all. i'm new to this board and new to photography. i have a nikon d3000. in the near future i am thinking of buying some lenses, particularly a macro & wide angle. now i have read some positive reviews of some tokina lenses. my question is do third-party lenses support AF, or does it depend again on the lens itself? also if you guys could recommend some decent macro lenses that would be great. or just some general advice on them. is it better to get a longer lens, what f-stops are better and so on. my aim for a macro lens is for shooting outside (bugs, flowers, water droplets) and product photography, although i suppose i don't really need a macro for products.
