doing some searches on amazon.co.jp for price ideas, i have come across a few instances of of: "ケンコートキナ" (kenko-tokina) or a kenko lens "by tokina". i was just wondering what is the deal here? also looking at some kenko lenses and the equivalent tokina lenses it seems they are very similar looking. are these two distinct manufacturers or are they something like sony-ericsson?

thank you.

In the USA I believe that only the Tokina brand is available for interchangeable lenses, although Kenko brand is available for extension rings, lens teleconverters and photo/video accessory lenses (WA and tele-conversion lenses that mount in the front of a standard lens).

At any rate, THK are the distributors for Tokina, Hoya, Kenko and Slik brands.
