Hi
I have spent weeks getting my portfolio the way I like it plus uploading and uploading pictures. How long did it take to get the first sale? I hope all this effort will pay off someday.

Thanks.....:rolleyes
Best Regards,
Ruth

Unfortunately for all of us, sales don't (usually) just happen because your work is published on a web site. You need to work to drive traffic to your site. Take a look at this page - http://www.smugmug.com/help/search-engines - and follow all of the suggestions there.

I see that your photos have keywords, and that's good.

You haven't supplied a bio photo so the contact page comes up with Smug's funky default image. That's not professional looking at all.
Help page to add a bio photo - http://www.smugmug.com/help/web-photo-albums.

You have chosen not to customize your site. There's nothing wrong with that, but the standard smug layout doesn't give you a lot of options to reach out to viewers to tell them who you are, to highlight sets of photos. At the very least I'd recommend that you remove the smug header and switch to the mini-footer. You might want to take a look at http://www.smugmug.com/help/create-photo-album.

Of course changing the look of your site won't drive traffic to it. It may entice someone to stick around a browse a bit though.

    Hi Denise
I appreciate your comments. I will look into your suggestions. I'm a little confused about the Bio Photo though. I do have a photo and a short bio in "my smug mug" so I'm not sure what you saw. Are there different places or options for a bio/photo and do I have it in the wrong place?

That's a gallery, it's not your bio photo.

Click on the contact link in your footer to see the photo.
Then click on the contact link in the footer on my site to see the difference.

The link I included above shows how to set your bio photo.

You can also see the mini-footer on my site as opposed to the larger footer you are currently using. I believe the mini-footer is better on a pro site.
