Can anyone convert?

I'm working on a brochure layout for a customer. Can anyone tell me what the measurement will be when you divide 11 1/8" into three equal sections?

If you are using a regular ruler they can't come out exact, but the will be within 1/16" of each other

3 5/8"
3 11/16"
3 11/16"

The actual result of the division is

3.708333333333333333333"

If you can measure to a 1/64" then you can use, they will end up within 1/64" of each other.

3 21/64"
3 21/64"
3 22/64"

I think 3 sections of 3 17/24"


11 + 1/8 = 11 + 3/24 = 11*(24/24) + 3/24" = 264/24 + 3/24 = 267/24

(267/24) / 3 = 89/24 = 3 + 17/24

convert fraction to decimal: 1/8" = 0.125

your dimension: 11.125

11.125 / 3 = 3.7083

.708 ~ 7/10"

Thanks for the replys. I did the math to come up with the 3.708 but needed to translate 7/10 into the 16th scale. I can use the 64th division. Thanks again.

If it is a trifold brochure, it is not exactly equal or else it will not fold in properly. You should check with the printer and/or leave yourself some room on the fold lines.

actually the layout should be equal parts. trim of the inner panel in a gate fold is handled in the finishing phase. adjust your bleed / trim lines accordingly
