Smugmug and oauth

Hi, between looking at the api docs(which has basic and oauth variants), and my control panel which lists a key and credential, I'm not sure whether or not smugmug requires oauth or not.

I'm hoping for not, or a solution similar to twitter that lets me not need a browser window to authenticate (I'm working on a mobile app).
Can anyone enlighten me on this?

    I've just been through this myself. You can use either oauth or email/password. If you use oauth you'll need 1.2.2 of the API, otherwise 1.2.0 on is fine.

    We currently support basic auth on all api versions and oauth for api version 1.2.2 onwards. If you are starting out, I'd highly recommend using 1.2.2 as it's more flexible and is more highly optimised than other versions.
