Changing your name.

Well, the business name I guess.
Have you done it, was it a struggle?
I've operated under my name for the last 6 years, Christine Donovan Photography. Honestly, 6 years ago, I thought it'd be cool to operate under a business name _ _ studio/photography. But, I decided to use my name instead. To me, at this stage, it seems amateurish to use my name, and I don't know why?
I think it's a good thing that after all this time the only name that I would ever consider using has never changed.
Is it a good idea to still use my name in the tag line? I could seriously go for days with rebranding stuff, it lends itself very well to icons, and I've practically redesigned it all already in my mind.
What should I consider before I make up my mind?

Be careful rebranding. Make sure it benefits you in some way. It is not 'just' a namechange; It will cost time and money to rebrand (website, logo, business cards, etc.) and people know you by your current business name. Make sure they will still know you somehow after you have rebranded.

I have tried using business names and it seemed to distance me from the business in
way that felt uncomfortable to me.....nothing I can really explain but it was a gut feeling.....
I think it was that when future generations would see the portraits or wedding photos
they would wonder who the photog was if the signature was SunRise Studio or Contemporary Visions Photography .....
so I came back to my Name.........also it felt strange to me to use the Business names and sign the photos with mine,
that did not work for me either...so with everything attached to my name there is no question that I own the company
and I am the photog that was hired........
Good Luck with this very personal decision.

Could be the advent of so much pop-commercialism which tends to be rather fadish, and fads fade.
Your Name is beautiful...and it is you and you alone!
