We've just come through five consecutive days of brutally heavy rains that left almost 400mm of rain on the ground - flooding rivers, lakes and ditches; washing out roads and bridges; and generally making life miserable for all concerned.

And, we have suddenly sprouted an entire crop of ?????????? on our lawn. These things (fungi I assume) measure about a foot across and are revolting to look at. My husband dug some up and said they were quite heavy as well.

What the ???????????

I'm not sure what they are by scientific name, but they came up on the back of some of my property. It took two séances and an exorcism to get rid of them. When they finally die, they stink to high-heavens.

Looks like the Blob was in your yard and .....

They do look gruesome, but you photographed them well Don't know what kind they are tho. We get mushrooms, but never that size.
