Wordpress Question

So - I am relatively new to Wordpress.

But, the powers-that-be have put on me the need to create a blog for our local gymnastics team. No problem - I got a free Wordpress site up and running in a few minutes, and got the first four or five posts up.

Thing is - we will have a few people adding posts. What I want to have is a default block of text to appear when a new post is created. The other users are not tech-savvy at all. I can show them what to change in the default text, and all should be good.

But, I have no idea how to set-up Wordpress to save the default text (which will include some HTML).

Anybody have experience with this and can share a step-by-step guide to doing it?

Edit - plug-ins are not available for free Wordpress accounts (located on wordpress.com). So, I am guessing that this can't be done without using the Wordpress software.

I am not an expert on the way that the free Wordpress accounts work, but is there a reason you can't edit the php pages to match your needs, or place the desired text right before the "content" (I would have to go look a little more at my blog to make sure it would work) include. Or am I talking geek?

I think for security/spam reasons they prohibit the ability to edit/upload php scripts for free accounts. There is not even an option to buy an upgrade for that - though you can buy other upgrades). Right now the budget is $0.00 (I am not spending my own money for this), and there not way to host the wordpress stuff locally and have it maintained.

I don't think it is possible to do what you want, unfortunately. Is it not possible to find a different solution? Maybe save the post somewhere and have them copy/paste it? They should be able to do/learn that, I think?

I'm considering that option right now. It's hard dealing with people who, no matter how smart they seem and how much you show them, can still not figure out the difference between "reply" and "reply to all" buttons.

Is it possible to leave it so that those user's posts need to be moderated. Then you, or some other computer savvy person, can go in and add the needed header and footer?

Funny you mention that - that's more or less the approach I am taking right now.

This weekend I hope to get a chance to discuss the blog and (hopefully) a new website with the parent's organization. They want a place to put meet photos and videos. I think wordpress can be integrated into that photo/video hosting site, too.

Now, anyone know of a good photo/video hosting service?:D
