Best time to see Sandhill flyins is after the sun goes down. In our area the highest numbers start coming in after the sun goes
behind the coast range. Not the best time for getting detail shots but the silhouettes can be rewarding.
Also reports that the D7000 AF does not perform well in low light has not been my experience

I could easily see hanging one or even all of these on the walls.
