The client for whom I did the portraiture project over the summer got a slide show up on Huffington Post - of course my credit line somehow fell off (despite the fact that I own the images). (Image #5 is not mine):

It is, as they say, 'complicated.'

    This BITES!
I can't believe your name is not on there and to boot a shot is mixed in that is clearly not yours.

I think it's great that they are being used, and published for that article and I love seeing my favorite shot in there (the Ford men), but damn!

Congratulations!! It is a wonderful set of photos and I enjoyed looking at them again. (Loyal person that I am, I closed my eyes as I clicked through #5!)

Sorry about the lack of credit, though. It just doesn't seem right. Maybe you could mention it in comments to the photos. ... I think that my photos look very nice in this presentation... or ... I was thrilled to seem my photos used in this slideshow (though chagrinned that no credit was given) ... ne_nau.gif

It was good to see those pics again. Congrats. A quick scan shows that most of the pics on the HuffPo are not credited, and among those that are, credit is only given to the agency (AP, Magnum, etc.), not the actual photographer. That's not to justify the practice, mind you, only to note that it's common.

Yet another example of the decline of the concept of intellectual property. And to Virgina's sage point - I did just that in the comment section.

Love the "American Gothic" shot of the Haven Farms lady...all are great shots, though. (Although I'm glad that #5 isn't yours...it is the only one I didn't care for much...)

Congrats on getting the photos on the site for widespread exposure. But it is a bummer that you do not get the credit from them and have to "comment" to let people know. It is a wonderful set of shots.
