Any new gallery styles coming anytime soon??

Not to sound like I am trying to imitate others, but one of the worst things I find troubling about the SM front end is how clunky the galleries look, the catagorization, and the different slideshows look. Is there any relief in sight to where we are going to have more elegant ways of display of galleries than the styles we currently have?? The ideas I have in mind are more in the WordPress style of gallery display....IE "Lightbox" type galleries?? They typically don't have thumbnails, which the slideshow gallery style leaves much to be desired....IE no thumbnails, which display right over the picture I am viewing??? Come on SM....get with it. As a SM pro, I pay money to have some of this stuff developed, among other things that my subscription fees go towards, and we are being left behind by things like wordpress, which in most cases is free, short of a plugin or two. Here's the deal. I am not a CSS guru, I don't have the time for it, but I want a certain look. I am not willing to farm out design to someone who is going to charge me an arm and a leg for something that SM should already be doing and offering as an option.

Examples of what I am looking for:
Click on his thumbnails, and it voila, a slideshow that is view controlled, and looks nice...and simple.

Also, a WP gallery with AF plug-in.

I am not saying this stuff needs to be an exact duplicate, but it would be nice to have something that looks simple and streamlined like these. No thumbnails to take away space, just let the view click on the screen to advance the show.

Apologies for the necro post, but any updates on new themes? I'm considering moving to a Wordpress based theme as my front end and point paying customers to the galleries via a redirect of some sort. I would rather not, because Smuggy rules but I am seeking a new and different look. Thanks!

I'd love to see the cleaner smugmug style that you're showing on your home page made available to us. That caught my eye when you (smuggy, that is) first showed it on the home page, and there was a question about it then too. You said that was in the works months and months ago... any update?

I know, I know, you don't give dates. But it's been a long time since that teaser appeared.

If you're demoing them at a smug meeting, can't you share them with us too?

We did not video that talk, sorry. Before I could arrange another preview, you'll likely be seeing something :) Stay tuned, everyone is working very, very hard.

I really don't understand why it is OK to show the changes at a smug meeting and it is not OK to share the changes with the rest of us. I get it, you didn't video that meeting - but I don't need a video. A preview of the changes in screen shots would be enough. And a delivery date!

I know, I know, you don't give dates, and you don't pre-announce features. But this time, you did pre-announce by including a screen shot on your home page and by sharing the information with one Smug group.

We're nearing final testing very soon. And we'll be seeking even more feedback from you guys.

I whole-heartedly agree with this...I am at the "I'm sick of this point"...I just paid for another year of this, and I am kinda wishing I hadn't now...I should have gone the other route. It is wonderful and all that you guys concentrate on crap like backprinting, but you guys can't wrap your heads around a thing like current and fresh site themes...there is a saying I have heard passed around various photo forums...many pre-packaged photo sites do self fullfilment well, or they do site design and delivery well...rarely do they do both well. So you guys do fullfillment well, but we can't get a new design out of you guys...

I will probably be ostricized for speaking out like this, and people will say "If you don't like it, then use the advanced customization and do it yourself." That is a good point, although I am #1 a photographer, and right behind that, I am someone who has no desire to sit at the back end of his site trying to get endless HTML and CSS hacks to work, or try to find code or type code to get a drop down nav bar to work...I would rather be out shooting than doing this. I would honestly like to know if I can get part of my subsciption fee back if I quit now.

So any word, can we see anything, or is going to continue to be kept a state held secret?
