I was looking at this http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/934199-gallery-settings-changing-for-multiple-galleries-?ref=title

Is the only "fix" for this to download StarExplorer or some other 3rd party app? :dunno

    OK, well just for example...

I recently discovered that you guys send a thank you print even if the prints are set at cost, which charges us a $1 fee every time since there is no profit to take out $1 of that order. I have all (over 100) of our personal galleries password protected and set to at cost (well, 1 penny over cost) so that our friends/family can order from there. I needed to go into ALL of these galleries to change the setting for the thank you print to remove it. I went into the gallery settings and clicked on the thing to change settings in multiple galleries. (I would do a screenshot and/or use the exact wording but you guys seem to be in read only mode right now so I can't).

Do you know what a PITA it is to manually go through the pull down menu and select over 100 galleries one at a time just to change ONE setting? Am I missing something? I know I can make quick settings but even to change a whole bunch of galleries to a new quick setting I have to select them each one by one. I want to be able to select an entire category or sub category rather than individual galleries...

It blows me away that Smugmug would go to all the trouble of implementing the multiple gallery setting UI (a lot of work and coding on their part) and NOT allow us to select all galleries in a category or sub-category with a single selection. It is probably the #1 or at least #2 use case for this feature. This is a huge design miss and quite frankly just disappointing that those implementing or designing features could miss such an obvious and straightfoward use case and massive usability improvement. I pointed this out when they first introduced this feature, but haven't heard anything about whether they will ever do this. Disappointing. The feature as it is is rarely useful to me. The feature where I could select by category or sub-category would be often useful to me.

I'm in the same boat. Not only does it take forever to choose multiple galleries, but do you know how much processing power making that javascript menu takes when you have hundreds of galleries? It takes almost 5 minutes on an Athlon 64 x2 with 3gb of ram. And that's only if you select 'continue' when it says the script is taking too long. rolleyes1.gif

I agree with John. Big miss on the use case in the development stage. ne_nau.gif
