Colonial Williamsburg (a short visit)

I recently had business travel to Williamsburg, VA. The weather was gloomy rain and the meetings were long. But on Saturday I found myself with a sunny day and some hours to spend, so I picked up my little travel camera and headed off to Colonial Williamsburg.
I had never been to Williamsburg before, but I was immediately charmed by the historically preserved buildings and the lovely autumn color.

Even more, I was charmed by the actors portraying colonial people. They walked the streets, conducted their business, greeted us visitors with friendly smiles and chatty details about their daily life.

They also carried on with their crafts and their livelihood, sharing their techniques and allowing us a peek into their world.

Most of all, I was captivated by the still life aesthetic of the historic preservation of the town--the small details, the old glass windows, the ephemera of life left lying on the tabletops:

It was a wonderful place! I haven't posted all my pictures yet, but more (and larger sizes) can be seen here.
(I've never done a "Journey" submission before, so C&C is more than welcome! And I'll thank you in advance for taking the time! )

Unfortunately, dtw, I did not get to go to Christie Anna's tavern because of time. But my husband and I are thinking about doing our summer trip to DC and Virginia this year, so we may be back. I take it that Christie Ann's is the tavern of choice?
I also have a question of the group: As I mentioned, I had not posted a journey listing before, but I do travel a lot and so want to in the future. Should I have posted the pictures in a larger size? I was conscious of how many I was posting and so went smaller...but some of the detail is lost then. Or should I just post less pictures?

The images sizes were perfect. A good rule of thumb is to make sure that the longest side of your image is no longer than 800px. If you're linking from one of your smugmug galleries, it's even easier: just use L (large) for any horizontal images and XL (extra large) for any veritcal images.
