Kierra in the Snow

Well it's evident from the last posting on my website being dated in mid September that I haven't been having enough fun lately, so we went out with a pretty young lady the other day and took some portraits in the fresh snow. She was an excellent model, although we all agreed she'll have to try to smile a little more. :rofl Here's a few favorites to show off, hope you enjoy!

1) We started out by a nice creek, not quite frozen over just yet.

2) Then we took off down the trail to try to find a nice backdrop of paper birch somewhere.

3) The colors worked pretty well. We intended to have something bright, but in the end the mint green was great too!

4) After trudging off through the woods for a pretty good distance looking for perfect birch trees and not finding any, we settled on just taking a few close ups and fun shots.

5) Then with fingers growing stiff and face conversely more relaxed, we wrapped up with some dancing in the snow. :D

Makes me want to move to Narnia!!

Until I remember how cold, wet, and messy snow really is.

I LOVE the mint green dress against the white snow, a little hint of freshness in the dead of winter.

Very gorgeous work!! Really love 1 & 5. 5 has a sensation of flying or hovering over the snow.
Only nits are that #2 felt a bit far off (perhaps just the image size playing into the issue). Can really see enough face detail, IMO.
On #3 the partial eye bothers me. I think you either need the other iris, or none of the other eye. Again, just my opinion.

Second L.K's comment about the mint green playing incredibly well against the snow. Really good call!

Above all else for me- the color scheme and textures. Beautiful! thumb.gif

Off the subject, but thank you for realizing that it's an "L" not an "I" like most people think it is :) Name's Lauren Madison, definitely an L.

Thanks for the comments all! And Heather, I've been putting as much prayer and practice into my photos as I can, so it's good to hear I'm making some good ones. :D

    Thanks again!

2,4 and 5 are my favorites but the whole set is magical.

That said, all I could think when I looked at them was, "SHE MUST BE SOOOO COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". rolleyes1.gif

Very, very nice! I really like the choice of color and how it just pops off the screen against the white of the snow.

Also huge credits to your model! She doesn't look at all cold, yet I know she must be.

Wow, thanks for the awesome comments everyone! And yeah, she told us she wasn't cold the whole time, but when it got to the point that we noticed she couldn't move her fingers well enough to grab her coat, we packed it up and went for hot chocolate. rolleyes1.gif She's tough!

Overall I really like these, but I would like to see shallower DOF or perhaps tighter framing (particularly #2) to isolate your model. To my eye, she seems to get lost a bit at times.
