Found a 7d EOS brand new online for 1069.00 shipped. Am I going to get a better deal elsewhere?

Is that for real? That seems on the edge of "too good to be true"....

Use the Canon Loyalty program? It's that price, if they have them available. Check the for sale main thread for the phone #

    Are they in Brooklyn? ;~)
That's about the price of Canon Loyalty Program, what store is it? No, you're not gonna find a cheaper price, but it's a better deal to pay a little more for a real honest dealer. Like CLP.
Also, the 7D's a great cam, perfect for sports/wildlife, but if you don't mind buying used I recommend a used 1DII for half the price deal.gif

Ok, I would be careful with "deals" online. If it is from the Canon Loyalty Program then you are in good shape, if not, I would research the seller carefully.

The CLP was the first call I made. Their price was/is 1119.20 for a refurbished with a 90 warranty. Is that a better deal? The online store I called said one year factory which sounded better at a cheaper price. Here's the website saveheredigital.com. Seems legit enough.

Looks like a scam site to me. 5 start certified logo that isn't a link, and doesn't state who did the certifying? Logos for credit cards that aren't links? 5.45 lifetime rating on reseller ratings? All point to it possibly being a scam site.

Which is why I'm glad I decided to come here first and ask!thumb.gif

So can someone give some detail about how the CLP works? I found an old camera that I happened to break couple of years back (powershot 540, it was company camera that got smashed by high winds and outdoor light stand, it was in my care when it happened, they bought a new one and let me keep the smashed one). So by what I've read and understand so far, I turn in this broken camera for a "white box" refurbished camera? I read something somewhat about "white box". Can someone elaborate? Thanks

And I did that, which is why I'm glad :D

Edit: I am now looking into the CLP.

Edit: Just got off the phone with Canon, white box refers to the camera actually being shipped in a white box and not the original. Appears I might be doing this CLP after all. Thanks for all the help!

Yep, it comes in a white box that says Canon Refurbished on it. It's a pretty good deal, you just have to ship them a broken one. You have to pay shipping and taxes. Here's the thread about it.

I cant speak for Canon but I bought a refurbished Nikon P100 from Nikon and it has been a superb camera and I saved a bunch of money on it. The big companies build a lot of cameras. Some are not up to standard when they go out. They go back and get redone by the repair center sometimes they are better than the ones that come off the assembly line because they get closer scrutiny when being repaired.

Why? Just curious. I do mostly sports and some landscape. Was looking forward to the 18 mp for cropping in tight shots. A need for sports. Thanks

Both are good cameras. The 1d ii has arguable some of the best AF ever. However, I believe that the 7d has slightly better image quality and it does have better high ISO noise performance.

The 1D2 has, some say, the best AF Canon ever made. I've never used any other Canon but can say that the AF on the 1D2 is pretty amazing. I was tracking this heron from a distance, barely could keep it on the center point, f/4, and not one was OOF. Much better build quality too. The 1D2 and 7D are both great sports cameras. Each has their advantages: the 7D has more MP, the 1D2 has bigger sensor. But the 7D does have much higher clean ISO, I can only go to about 1000 on the 1DII. With the 7D you get all the latest bells and whistles: HD video, electronic level, 18mp, etc. etc. But I'd still rather have the 1DII: the AF, build, big(ger) sensor, 1-series advantages, etc. etc. The only 2 things I don't like: limited ISO (don't really need it that much though) and cropping room, 8mp doesn't give you very much. Just look at the advantages of each and then decide what's best for you. Whichever you get, if you can learn how to use it very very well than it will be a fantastic camera.

I checked out resellerratings for the company the OP mentioned. It is not listed. Out of over 25,000 stores, it is not on there. Seems to me it would heave some sort of rating if it was an established business. I would be leary of that company.

Here they are. And notice that the 5-star ones are really short and not very descriptive. Just something to think about.
