My photoshop doesn't save preferences

What the deuce!?
Here I am trying to save actions, preferences and what have and my sodding CS2 won't go and save.
Anytime I start the program everything goes and buggers itself up. None of my preferences, setting or saving selections save. This coincides with the fact that my speaker setting don't save either.
So what gives? I'm standing by with shotgun at the ready to irrevocably fix my computer, because I'm tired of having to reset things EVERY time I open anything.
It's not the battery, because my time and date are constant, but something is fouling up.
