Alternative to CanonUSA for Servicing

I bought a canon G9 and wanted to send it in for cleaning and the once over.
Canon wants $159.00 just to touch it.

Was wondering if anyone used another service that was as good and easier on the wallet?

You're not going to find a better deal than that. Canon will also calibrate the metering, auto-focus, white balance, etc. It's a good thing to do from time to time, even though it's expensive relative to the price of the camera.

Strauss Photo, in the DC area. Not sure if they do tune-ups and stuff, you might want to look into it.

Nice guy! he passed away about 3 years ago i think. He was of the pioneering photographers and was the guy NASA contracted to do all the photography equipment stuff on the earlier missions. I haven't been there in a while.

I completely forgot about them.
