I don't know who was more surprised. The doe or my Bro-in-law. Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, NC.

    Which one moved first? Thanks for posting this photo--made me laugh.

    The same thing has happened to me--our very rural home was built with lots of glass on both sides of our living room to enhance the view. It worked. The thing is, it enhances the view from the outside too, and on stepping into our living room, I have been startled by deer, raccoons, 6 turkeys , possums, and a snake peering in.

    Thanks Pam, and David. It was a bit of a stand-off. As soon as Steve tried to swing his camera off his shoulder for a shot, the doe was gone. The deer in this area aren't city park animals. Really unhabituated to humans.
