A cold damp wasp

Found a rather cold and damp common wasp drone yesterday morning and allowed it to warm up and dry off a bit on the back of my hand.

Thanks, No never been stung or bitten by bugs I was photographing - do sometimes get bites by unseen bugs though.

great shots Brian, the black bands on abdomen look quite narrow/thin

is it same as the last ones?

Phil Yes they can look very narrow on these males - I gather they have an extra abdominal segment in there compared to the females or Queens.

These are fantastic, but they're making me miss our European paper wasps . They didn't come back to our back landing this year...I'm hoping they'll show up next year.
