Help, sticky F stop

Wondering if anyone has had this problem before, I have an XTI and the past 2 shoots I have been on it refuses to let me change my F stop, both in manual mode and aperture priority. The only way I was able to rectify this
was to pull my lens off and re-attach it. Does any one have any ideas as to
why this is happening? I was using a Sigma 17-70mm one time and my
Canon 100-400mm the other time.
Thanks for any help!

use an eraser and clean the contacts on the lens and possilbly the body as well. On the body they are spring loaded pins so you can't push very hard, but sounds like contacts are dirty if it happens on more than one lens.
