I like the way you catch the bird in mid stride. Especially the last one--that bird has places to go! Best, Pam

Thanks Pam for your comments, I like to capture them striding it makes it a bit different than that normal pose with both feet on the ground. I like your comment about places to go.

Thanks Ira, I sure did make the best of it, and was very happy with this years trip, there are plenty more images to share here, but will wait a bit before I post more stuff here as I don't want to flood this area.

Thanks again for your comments on this series.

Funny Ric that you mentioned a wannabe Killdeer, that was my first thought that this bird sure looks like a Killdeer.

Thanks for your comments on these images.

Nice set Dennis. I know what it's like to try and catch this type of bird when they are on the move, it's worse than trying to get a BiF. So well done on the sharpness!

Thanks Al for the kind words on this series and yes they are almost like trying to capture a BIF, but some what easier to manage.

Thanks Mike for the comments and the low angle was taken hand held with the 500mm and they turned out good, was not sure how they would come out as not easy at times to shot with that lens in ones hands.

That is just a superb set of images. Incredibly sharp. That bird definitely has places to go and people to.. okay birds... to see :)

I just read through this thread a second time. Hand-held, 500mm? I want hands like yours. In my hands, I'd be lucky if the blur was recognisable as a bird.

Lindiwe, thanks for the compliments on this series of images, and yes places to go and places to see.

Yes, this was a chance I was taking here as for me I can hand hold that lens but not for long periods, and I wanted to get down as low as possible. I was looking at the Skimmer but $100.00 for a peace of plastic I changed my mind, and said that I would try holding the lens and it worked out.

    Thanks again
