All-

Looking to increase my macro capability and I'm considering picking up a set of extension tubes. My question is, with what I currently have (see below) would this give me the capability to zoom in closer to the subject? Thank you in advance.

My gear:

  • Tamron 70-300mm Di LD Macro Zoom Lens
  • Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR Camera with Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS lens

Oh yeah, I used to have that Tamron...
I don't know, you might want to buy better lenses first, they'll not only get closer to the subject but also allow you to take sharper and all-around better photos.

yes a set of extension tubes will allow you to focus closer than you can now.
Will the images be as great as if you were using a prime macro lens....probably not....
but it is away to start and learn............
