playing with a texture

I love to play with textures and water color is my all time favorite look. I am really happy how this image turned out. If I could paint like this I would, but I am happy to shoot instead and I can still play with water colors.

I like the effect. Kind of reminds me of a romance novel jacket. :)

I like it too, what do think about trying to make the edges of the photo rough and vintage looking to go with the look of the texture?

Very nice! So often people apply textures and they come out all wrong, but this one really works, and works well!

Now THAT is tasteful. Downright beautiful, in fact!

    * It's something I've never seen before, or hardly ever seen.

    * It's not a photoshop technique that tries to hide a composition, posing, or lighting error. All of those elements are ALREADY awesome.

I absolutely love it! What a fantastic blend of the real and the fantasy, without making it look fake...very beautiful!

My only wish is that she had a happier or at least peaceful look on her face, she looks a bit sad on her wedding day.

Thank you everyone ! It is very rewarding when I post something I am very happy with to find that my favorite people on Dgrin agree. You all have made my day!
The texture is from a set I purchased from Scott Robert Photography, but anyone can make their own or find free textures online. This is my weakness, some women buy shoes, I buy actions, textures etc.
    I used CS4
Here are the basic tips ... apply texture in a layer, wipe off areas to taste. The secret to this is to vary the brush edge softness and the opacity. I overlapped the amount I removed to soften the image. The bride herself was brushed to remove most of the texture but with wide margins , so only the core of her image was all the texture removed with some being left toward the edges. The skirt of her gown has a good example of this, I left it in layers here.
I recall that I fooled around with the "mode", like soft overlay, multiply, darken, color burn, etc you can scroll through and try them all. I don't recall what I used. Afterward I used a frame preset to the edges to make it look more like a painting, and soften the edges. And added a white frame.

this is pretty close to the image I started with...

    the texture I applied....

    part way there..

more tweaking, added white frame and logo in white

and here is another texture I worked with, also from the set from Scott Robert1101875436_PgVbi-M.jpg

    Trudy,

I really like your work here...these are very appealing. I can see one of these on the cover of an album, or on a wall. Nice work.
