commute

One of the shots I'm using for the current challenge. It's my favorite of the collage bunch. Shot with my 50mm--it's just not wide enough:( for street, or shooting a commute, but I continue to force myself to use it. If I had shot from any further back I would have been shooting from the tracks.

Love it. I think it's fascinating how we can convey motion in a picture that doesn't move at all, but I feel like I'm walking along right behind these two, ready to step on the train myself. Well done.

It's moments like this when I want the panasonic gf1 w/ 20mm lens!
I also wish I had not blurred out so much of the background, I like the look on the woman's face looking at my main subjects. I think this shot could have been special if it was 1 wider and a smidge wider back and all in focus.. Damn!

The framing is terrific, Liz, so I don't think wider would necessarily been better. However, I agree that there's a focus issue. The woman at the back is the only face visible, so one tends to want that to be sharper than the backs of people in the foreground. I still like the shot, though.

Thanks Richard. I was proud of the framing. I did just want a little more of that little girl in the shot though.

So close on the focus issue! Glad it works still Richard. I love the little girl in the shot--the woman in the train had a look on her face of pure empathy, I saw it live, too bad I didn't capture it. Also you can't tell, but the woman on the train has a baby strapped to her chest.

It is a good shot... but you have identified what would have made it better. It was the lady in back with the kid that drew my attention.

You are learning the goods/bads of the 50 pretty quickly. I love the wide angle because I don't have to consider DOF often (though it bites me when a shallow DOF would have been desired).

BTW, your "NINE" is wonderful as a set. I like #6 with the guy reaching for a handhold while fighting the flow of others onto the car. Might be worth posting here.

Thanks about the "nine" set Rainbow.
IT's funny that you like that one particular shot. I thought it was the weakest, or one of the weakest of the bunch. I will post it here in a bit and see what others say. It was going to be one of the ones I was going to delete and try and replace with another.

I still haven't taken my 50mm off my camera, but it does have its minuses, still it's my best lens.
