I was specifically trying to emulate Mike Penn when I took these two shots in July.

Before I even read your explanation and I saw the first shot I knew exactly what you were going for, I think technically you nailed what you set out to do.
#1 works more so I think or is more similar in style, but both are missing that special little something.

    I stand corrected.
rolleyes1.gif No need to apologize. The framing is nice, but the light is very harsh. From the shadows, it looks like these must have been shot close to mid-day.

No need to apologize. I actually deleted the qualification: "except for the lighting and composition...". It is missing something: probably Mike...

You are correct on the lighting. So I pumped up the contrast to make it seem like a "style" choice...

    Thanks!

    Thanks for being polite...

At the time I shot this, I noticed you were fading from this forum. Your photos were unique, well done, and generated very few responses. So this was conceived to let you know that you were influencing some of us to explore more with our cameras. The recent thread of your success prompted me to post these.

The forum has grown with greater participation in the past months, but thoth, rutt, and you leave a void without your display of photos. Hope to see more of all of you soon!

Sorry about that, rainbow. We spent a lot of time convincing you to boost the contrast so I couldn't help teasing you a bit.

Like I said to Liz, no need to apologize. But you have to live with the consequences of your actions as maybe you have unleashed a monster!rolleyes1.gif
