My last few weeks have been busy and exciting!
I haven't posted in a while because I have been sifting through 1000's of images from my last few weeks work. It started simple enough. Shot an MMA event. Both weigh ins and the fight. Great event, weird venue and promotion but all was good. Lots of UFC dropouts. Pretty much UFC vs local talent. Local talent prevailed for the most part with one exception. Joseph Henle from one of the latest Ultimate fighter shows was really on it. He could have won any of the fights there that night. It was a tough night. Most of the fights ended up on top of me. And to the immediate right and left. Pretty much the suckiest places to deal with.

Then the next morning Grappling tournament, all day long. Not everyday you get to see little kids strangle each other and even see a few MMA pros practicing grappling. One of them, a young up and comer that I have seen fight a few times, needed some new head shots. His old ones were horrible. I had a 1 flash and a black wall so we got him something cooler. Then image editing forever. 15,000 photos between the last three days and an aching back.

#8 A little dark, but, 10000% better than his old P&S shot. Sometime we will do the real deal for him.
I had to pass on another MMA event that was the same evening as the grappling. There was mixed signals and bad communication from the promoter, and the red flags were raising. Sounded like a cluster F. I figured I would make no $$$ so I passed. Turns out that was a good move. They emailed me the week after. The guys that were there taking photos ended up getting some blurry Gollum on Gollum action. Next event they are paying me up front to do it.:D
The grappling led to being asked to go down to Absolute MMA, a local gym, for a Muay Thai seminar with a master instructor Sakesem. This dude was amazing. 55 years old and he would beat anyones ass. He felt like marble and moved so fast you could hardly see him. I think he said he had 300 professional fights. WOW! All very cool.

#12 We did a few shots for Sakasems website. He is the man.
Now my ass hurts from so much ass time in front of the computer. But it is great because I have been busy, and making some money, finally!

#8 would be cool snooted a bit to keep most of the light on his face and hand. Maybe a touch of spill on the body. You're definitely on the right track with him though.
Yeah for 8 there are a lot of things that could be better. I think if I use my large silver reflector on the right side and behind slightly the 1 flash would work better. It would then be sort of a hair light/ right side fill without being too intense. Or just use another flash turned way down.
