The hardest thing about this assignment for me is being able to look at a picture of myself and actually see it instead of panicking. It's darn hard to judge shots of myself.
I really like this photo. The more I look at it, the more drawn in I am. The eyes looking right at me seem to say with a certain calm defiance: "This is me" while the wrinkles in the forehead say "Is this me?" and the slightly out of focus mouth and chin seem to be drawing away from the confrontation and saying "maybe this isn't a good idea after all." Wonderful.
Your feelings about photographing yourself are surely shared by most of us who love to be behind the camera -- not only to observe but, for me at least, to hide. Andy had it right when he suggested that this would be a hard one. Kudos for taking it on head-on!
