It could use a little boost on the color, perhaps, but you've done a good job of capturing a moment that's not always very well lit.
You've also got the delema of "horizon"-straightening or not - the 45 yard line's "straight" but that leaves the far-side stands looking odd; straighten to them and then the field'll look ever so slightly crooked. And, to keep the same apsect ratio, you'll loose a player. It's a tough call, see http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/8201/35426149l7vj.jpg
You are right, that had not occurred to me. Learning something everytime out. I had lowered the saturation on the shots I took before the sun went down (set everything but sharpness back to the default) and it did not occur to me to change them afterwards. Another lesson. Plus I really do not have a long lens faster than F3.5 and I expect that makes them a little darker doesn't it? I've been considering a couple of different lenses but have not been able to decide if they'll help or not.
Their first competition is this weekend, at night so I'll have another opportunity to experiment!
Thanks for the pointers!!
I checked out your marching band pictures and they are great! They inspired me to work harder! Thanks for sharing them with me.
