I was able to buy a used Nikon D70 from ebay. Tested it today and here is what i came up with.

Lens used was a Nikon 50mm F1.8D AF lens. C&C would be most welcome. Thanks!

Congrats on the new toy. Isn't that lens sweet? Is that a chain link fence in the bg? Makes for a sweet abstract bokeh.

Thanks Icebear. Yup, those are chain link fences. I decided to buy this lens based on what I saw on the lenses used by dgrin members. The funny thing about this lens is that the Bokeh is a hexagon (most of the time when I use it) and not the typical round bokeh. I have no idea why, but personally I like its performance so far. The D70 seems to be a very good DSLR to start learning digital photography (not to mention that it's the only DSLR that I can afford right now. :D)

Look again: It's a heptagon. That's because it has seven straight aperture blades. That's only one reason it only costs $120, and not $435 like its AF-S f/1.4G big brother which has nine curved blades, and gives you such smooth bokeh. Is the 1.4G a better lens? Well sure. Is the 1.8 the best value in the Nikkor lens universe? Yes, IMO.

Thanks Icebear. I learned another thing from you today. I would agree with you - this is the nicest $105.00 that I have spent so far. I bought it refurb by Nikon USA. thumb.gif
