CS5 Download

This is a really dumb question, but I'm downloading CS5 onto a new computer with Windows 7. When it comes up to download I have 2 boxes to check off to download....

One for Photoshop CS5 (64) bit -- which I have on my computer

The other is for Adobe Photoshop CS5.

If I click both of them that installs 2.3 GB of software. I'm thinking I would just install the 64 bit one and leave the other unchecked.

When I uncheck the Adobe Photoshop CS5 I lose the "Adobe Fonts Recommended" from the list to my right under all components.

Anyone else run into this problem? What do I do???

Get a Mac.

Actually we had the same problem at work and if I remember correctly installed the CS5 64 Bit first then did a custom install of regular CS5 and did just the fonts. I might be incorrect but that is what I seem to remember doing.

Your so funny I looked at a Mac yesterday --

I'll try what you think you did at work. I can't see having both full versions minus the fonts in CS5 64bit. That is just plain weird that it's set up that way.

Happy to hear someone knows what I'm talking about. Wonder how many people read this thread and checked out their downloads

Don't even know what's included in the extra fonts

Was going to do what Brad mentioned last night, but thought I should be wide awake when dealing with photoshop

64bit has plenty fonts of its own
if the 32bit dont cost you extra , you can download
but , IMO you dont need it [ unless you need it ]

if you want more fonts , you can always download some later
simply place them in ; C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder
look in it , probably some there already

I can't see why I would need CS3 when I have CS5

Does CS3 have something that CS5 doesn't have?

you only need the CS5 64bit version , since you have an 64bit pc with 64bit windows [ thats correct is it ? ]

the "other" version you mentioned in post #1 is 32bit version of CS5 , you dont need that , unless you have a 32bit pc

if that means you get no extra fonts , so be it

these fonts allways are installed in the (windows) folder i mentioned C:\WINDOWS\Fonts
look in it

if you need extra fonts later , you put them in this folder , and CS5 will use them

No it was my fault .. I read it all wrong

I don't need any extra fonts so what ever they have on CS5 will be ok.

Other side of the planet ???? Are you on vacation or just live somewhere other then the US?

Went to uninstall and see the same 2 I installed ... I've attached a screen catch of it.

When I saw this screen when installing ... I clicked on the first one to read about it and it's CS5 -64 bit with what it offers.

On the second pick of CS5 -- its just added/extra fonts, but my understanding is it's another CS5 to my computer. This is where I may be wrong tho. Takes up more space on my computer then what the program should -- 2.52 GB.

When I just look at my programs to uninstall I only see on CS5 on there.

What do you think?

Took off my CS5-64bit and CS5 and downloaded it without the extra fonts CS5 -- weird thing that is really when you think about it.

Dogs .. we're down to 1 dog now ... our pup had to go to another home crycry:cry

On a 64bit computer/operating system, you want to install the default, that is two versions with your single install, one 64bit and another 32bit.
They both work on a 64bit computer, but if you have a 32bit computer, then you only want to install the 32bit version.

There is a very good reason why the default installs the two versions, and that is because not everything will work with the 64bit version. Most of the plugins, extras, are not 64bit, and will only work with the 32bit version, so with the two versions it isnt a problem because you can switch back and forth between 32 and 64bit.

You might decide now that you wont ever use any 32bit stuff with it and deselect it in the setup, and just install 64bit, but then later on you might find a awesome plugin or something that wont work, so I would recommend just installing it with the default 32&64


(also you might want to be sure you have a 64bit system by right clicking on "computer" and clicking "properties")
