Some newer stuff
It's been a busy few months - have not had much time to post images on forums, etc.
In October we took over a new studio space, twice the size of our current downtown location. We did a TON of work to it - everything from paint, electrical and even built a few movable walls. Now have a sectioned off kid play area for the kids to have some fun during consults/viewings or before/after the session. Our beauty team now has a bigger area and we've let them personalize it. Higher ceilings, larger gallery wall and we have 3 painted shooting walls as well. One of them being silver done with a metallic paint - pretty sweet.
Been a very busy year - our struggle has been keeping up. Just did a commercial shoot this week for a lingerie clothing outlet. She's asked us to do some work on images past studios have done for here that were underexposed, etc. She has a full release to the images so we're ok there.
A few months ago we completed a shoot for a novelist out of Atlanta, GA - about 25 images to be published in his 2nd novel.
Have a busy December lined up for boudoir clients, mix of holiday and Valentine’s gifts. Our turnaround on products is 6 weeks after the order, or at least we tell them 6 weeks and aim for sooner. So we like to get these things in plenty ahead of time. Very few clients have issues with it and we make it known ahead of time. I think the fact that we don’t provide products just days or a few weeks after the order also adds to the value…they know we dedicate a lot of time to their images.
Really loving our sales at this stage. We need them to continue to improve to reach the end goal of both Brian and I being full-time – but we’re consistently averaging right around $1000 on sales, not including the creative fee for the session. In studio sales is the way to go. We had to do one sale online (first one in a very long time) and it was by far the worst we’ve had all year. I think I’d rather not even take the client if we have to sell online! Yes, we do put the images online upon request, but it’s ONLY after their order and only the ordered images end up online – sometimes we put up a few more that they really liked. We can’t stress this enough and we had the opportunity to give some feedback and quotes to the PPA a couple months ago – they used it in one of their articles. Sell your art in the studio!
Having the beauty team on staff and it being included in all but our shortest session has been a great move for us, separates us from the other studios – our clients love being pampered and we love knowing our beauty team will give us the results we need. Nothing is worse than trying to photograph a client with the wrong make-up – Mary Kay products are some of the worst! (even though clients think Mary Kay make-up is the best)
Here is a smattering of samples. Hope everyone is having a great "Cyber Monday"!

Some kid stole my truck.
Do you order a cake for the kid shoots with there name on it or generic cake with a photo shopped name? Nice touch eather way.
Good luck with your new studio!!!!!
Sam
Cakes are done by a family member of the studio that is an excellent baker. Nothing on the cakes is done in post, cakes are provided for each session and customized based on what the client wants. We have the client bring the balloons and suggest the match the cake colors. So far, this has been very successful.
