My first post over here in sports. Most of my time has been spent over in Landscapes. I was recently on Maui, HI and spent a good deal of time at Hoo'kipa Beach where the windsurfers do some amazing stunts. The beach is near Paia and by the afternoon there is a strong wind off the water and heavy surf. I got some shots I liked there that I'd like to share. Comments greatly appreciated as this is the first time I shot anything like this.

#1 Big Jump

#2 Extra Effort

#3 End for End

Thanks for looking.

    Nice Tom.

Looks like you were a little high. Were they at 200mm on DX?

These were pretty much all taken at the 200mm end of the zoom. I put myself on a bluff above the beach so I was probably 20-30 feet above beach level. These are also cropped a good bit. When I was done I wished I had a 300mm.

I take it you were down near mama's? the surfers are normally at the other end. Great shots, its a fun place to shoot from but it always leaves you wanting bigger faster glass lol. 1 is great! perfect timing.

Yes, down at that end. Actually where the road from the beach comes back up to the Hana Highway. There's a pulloff on the road and you can just walk along the bluff to get the best angle.

The first one is very nice. You didn't include #12 from your set. I really like that one too. Even a 300mm can be short. I frequently shoot with the 400mm or 600mm.
