Got a friend who wants an SLR and is inheriting some Takumar lens from his father. He want to get a T2i now after reading about some adaptors. As far as I can tell, it will be MF only right? Will metering and apeture control work with these adaptors?

Looked at this a bit since my GF shoots canon and has olympus OM lenses she got from her folks.

This is a good summary of Canon bodies and adapters, but I can't vouch for the accuracy.

I'm afraid that this is one of those "it depends" answers. Do you know the specific Pentax Takumar lenses being considered?

For a modern Pentax lens the best solution is to purchase a Pentax body. The more automation the lens has, the more automation you will lose trying to adapt the lens to a Canon body.
