Sunrise Point - Bryce Canyon National Park

This photo was taken mid-afternoon from Sunrise Point in Bryce Canyon National Park. Regretfully, I didn't have the time on this trip to play with the early morning and late evening light to get some of the photos I wanted. Looks like a return visit may be order. I have other photos taken from Sunset Point at sunset, but they will have to wait until I get home late night (probably in the wee hours of the morning actually) to process from RAW.

When I visited some of the national parks in the USA, I really fell in love with the views in Bryce. Your picture does those views justice, even when they were shot in the harsher light of mid afternoon. thumb.gif
enjoy being here while getting there

Thanks Marlof. I had to underexpose about 1 1/3 stops to keep from blowing the harshly lit areas and then bring out the shadows using threshholds & curves and levels. I also upped the brightness in RAW significantly as I brought the image into PS.

    Beautiful shot.

It looks like spun glass or rock candy in some areas. Great lightingthumb.gifthumb.gif

    Simply Beautiful
GREAT SHOT!! I've been visiting other smugmug sites looking for Bryce Canyon shots/ideas. I don't think I need to look anymore. Great great work!

Andy, I would love to make the trip, but I have a scheduling conflict. I will see what I can work out during the coming week and hopefully there will still be a slot open for the Bryce/Zion trip.

Thanks Adam, Ed, and Nikolai. Nikolai, that's a pretty wideangle shot. Mine just took up a small portion of that view.
