Removing preset categories on upload

When the user is uploading photos and creating a new gallery you're presented with a drop down list to select a category. Is it possible to remove all the preset categories so that only the user created categories are shown plus the option to create a new one. I find the list unnecessary.

As far as I know that's not possible.

I was responding to your original question - I should have said there is no way to remove the stock categories.

Sorry, misread your reply. I'll just have to put up with the catergories then - not to worry.
