Fun shot of my cousins and two of their friends on the beach.
Was going to send this to them as a xmas gift, my question is .. is it missing something? This one was SOOC and not sure if i should 'tinker' with it or not?

Shots are great! I'd straighten out the horizon on #1 and lower the contrast a little bit to lighten the skin tone. Other than that it's a perfect fun shot for me. thumb.gif

Thanks jiro - and thanks for the advice, didn't catch that the horizon was un-even. will fix that and see how turning the contrast down a bit looks.

I tried to work around your image on #2 and I noticed that the highlights are a bit blown. Also, I think a tighter crop would probably work to avoid the dark areas on the right. If you don't mind I tried to do some adjustments myself and here is what I came up with:

    1. Tighten the cropping.
    2. Lowered the highlight values.
    3. Increased the blue color of the sky a little bit
    4. Saturate the skin tone a little bit.

If you find my work intrusive kindly ignore everything. I am a photoshopper first before I started into digital photography.

No not at all - the second one i had applied a topaz "color stretch" to it, so probably why there were some blowout parts. I think i liked the first one better as it didn't have anything but water in the bg. it may be the small version .. but it seems to have lost a bit of clarity?

If you are referring to the attached image being blurred and without much detail I think it is because of the highly compressed upload process. I agree with you, the first pic looks nicer as the main image to send to your cousins and their friends. thumb.gif

These are what the are...fun and impromptu and I'm guessing the only light on them is coming from the reflected light off the sand in the first image since it appears that the sun is behind them slightly.

I like these kinds of fun shots!

I'm not sure. When I checked the histograms of the before and after I decided to shift some of the values towards the middle. I'm using the saved image I got from his post. If he can send me the RAW file I can do some "magic" to it. :D Just kidding. I'm still in the learning process. But in totality, these 2 images are awesome. They'd surely appreciate either one once they see it!

Ah I see, it looks more obvious perhaps because the rest of the image was toned down?
I can see it was there in the original as well...

Here is the original - as i said, i applied a color stretch to the first one i posted.. mostly cause i don't mind blown highlights as long as i achieve the look and feel i was going for. but looking at the original .. i should have just left it alone.. rolleyes1.gif

Hey Andrew - thank you, and thanks for checking out the gallery thumb.gif
Haven't been posting much lately, mostly from a lack of things to shoot. Matter of fact it's difficult with work and the 4 girls to get much time to shoot anything lol3.gif but, yes the trip was a lot of fun.. we liked it so much we bought into it for 25 years.. rolleyes1.gif

In case anyone is interested in checking the gallery here is the link:

+1 on the original for the 2nd shot. Tighter crop on this one as well?
