When I try and get a link to a photo by pressing the share button, the drop down shoots to the right, and the cursor rests on the slideshow button, immediately opening up a slideshow. It can take me 20 goes to avoid this. Is it something I've done?
Regards
Dave

Try changing your screen resolution or another browser. It's nothing you've done, it's just the nature of these type of dropdown boxes. It's why I hate them. :D

I don't see this problem on your site in any of my browsers. Can you explain the problem in more detail? When I click on the Share button in one of your galleries, the menu goes below the share button and the slideshow button remains to the right of the the share button. There is no overlap at all between the slideshow button and the menu and I have no conflict between the two. Are you seeing something different?

Is the page fully loaded before you click? I do notice that when the gallery finishes loading, sometimes it will cause a scroll bar to appear at the right edge of the window and that pushes the buttons over when that happens. Could this be what's happening to you? If so, as a work around, you can either wait until the gallery finishes loading or you can click in the left half of the Share button and this shouldn't be an issue. If something else is happening, please explain more. This should be a problem you have to deal with.

    Hi,
When I click on share, the whole site shifts to the left, moving the buttons over too. This leaves my cursor on the slideshow button and when I release, a slideshow starts. The scroll bar of i.e. remains in place, and I can see a little bit (about 3 or 4mm) of my actual desktop background.
The whole thing moves, theme photo, boxes, banner..the lot. I've discovered that 'themes' button does this also, leaving my cursor on 'share'
Further, when I click any button in that row, the dropdown appears below the button adjacent and to the right of the one I clicked. Hence, when I click 'themes' it appears under 'share' shifting the page over as it bumps against the scrollbar, and when I click 'share' it appears under 'slideshow', bumping the whole page over again.

The screen shot tells the story - thanks. That is not supposed to be that way so something is definitely wrong as it doesn't work that way for others. What browser version are you seeing this in? Do you have any other browsers that you could check it in to give us an idea if it's a browser-specific issue or a system issue or maybe something on Smugmug's end of things.

    Hi,
Thanks for your time. I currently use i.e. 9. On Firefox, the screen looks like this:

I'm beginning to think that it may have something to do with my theme picture. Can you tell me the correct dimensions for a custom Smugmug theme? As you can see, the bg picture has repeated over on the right, which suggests it is interfering in some way.
    Dave
OK, further to the above, I removed the custom theme and used a smug standard colour. The same thing happens.
Further again, I turned off stretchy in customization, and it solved the shifting over, although the drop down menus still appear over to the right. The right hand side of the box containing the galleries is missing, and the like/dislike box that flies in when you hover over a photograph appears to the right of the photo, so is impossible to use as it disappears as you try to move to change size/give a thumbs up or down etc.

I'm sure the size menu appeared previously onto the picture.

It does not happen for me here in Firefox 3.6, IE8 or Safari 5. IE9 is not yet a Smugmug-supported browser. Smugmug will support it before it is released. If the issue doesn't happen in another browser, then it's probably because Smugmug hasn't yet finished supporting IE9.

As for the background, there is no perfect background image size because the viewer's window can literally be any size so you can't optimize a single image for all possible browser window sizes. The simple strategy is to center the background image and then pick a background color that blends well with the edges of your photo so any areas beyond the photo show as the background color. You are currently seeing your background image repeat to fill the extra space. This is something you can stop with the no-repeat option in the background CSS.

Thanks for your help. I'm on a steep learning curve here.
