I don't know what kind of duck they are, but I'm sure someone on here could enlighten me. I've discovered my camera's lens has a macro focus ring so i was playing with that today, this is the result.

As usual, click on them to load a full sized version.

Shot with Nikon D70, using Tokina 35-200mm AT-X Macro Zoom Lens made some time before `77. No lens filters, no post processing what so ever. No tripod, either.

That first one--what a striking duck! I have no idea what it is, but can't wait to hear! Best, Pam

The ones with the red 'things' on their beaks are "Muscovy ducks" some friend of mine off-forum informed me, unsure if that's correct or not though, feel free to correct me if you wish. :D

Yes the ducks with the "red things" on their beaks are infact Muscovy ducks. They are one of the largest breeds of ducks and many or raised domestically for meat. The White duck is just a plain Pekin duck, you know the same kind that Donald Duck, the Aflack Duck, and Oregons mascot were designed after. I'm not sure about the gray duck it is some kind of crested duck just not sure what breed.

Just a fair warning before your next duck adventure though...Muscovey ducks can be VERY agressive especially if there are any ducklings around so be careful before you get too close or they may do some damage!

Ducks are A LOT of fun to photograph as they are very comical. I have kept ducks, chickens, and geese as pets and they are so much fun to just stop and photograph. Great captures!

Thanks for the warning... i guess i got lucky to get away unscathed for this duck encounter then!

I should of shot the fountain, but there's a creek that runs down the length of 4 neighborhoods here in farmer's branch, about 5 miles, and the city made two parks out of it. There's rock/mortar walls up on the banks with benches, I went to sit at the bench, and 3 of these ducks with the red things on their beaks flew up within 2 feet of me and just kinda stood there and looked at me, didn't really quack either. There weren't any baby ducklings around that i could see, I'd just assumed they were looking for food. When they didn't get anything from me, the whole flock went down-stream and flew up on the bank around some guy that was tossing out bread pieces, that's the floating-away pictures i shot.
