Embed GALLERY into my wordpress blog

Ok, I feel like a compete idiot, or SmugMug could use a nice UI overhaul because I can't for the life of me figure out how to embed a gallery into my blog using html.

When I click share --> get a link --> it asks me to choose a photo. I'd like to embed the entire journal styled gallery not just one photo.

Seeing as how smugmug is designed for this I'm not sure why it's so difficult :dunno

We've never had a way to embed a gallery page like that. What you can do is embed photos,or slideshows, using share>get a link. Or you can do ShowOff>Badge on a blog, lots of folks do that.

So if I have 50 pictures I'm going to have to embed each one at a time?

It would be pretty cool to see smugmug partner with Cool Iris: http://www.cooliris.com/

Actually, if you wanted to, you could take cool iris express, assign a smugmug gallery rss feed to it, and post to your blog that way. I've used Cool Iris to post images to my Wordpress blog, it works great.

edit: CoolIris doesn't accept smugmug's rss without adding an xml file to the server root.

NO-- like Andy said, you can embed a slideshow, or a badge (badges can be configured all kinds of ways, although I've learned they work best with images that are all in the same orientation (all portrait, or all landscape) I don't have much on my blog, but if you click the link I have in my signature below, you can see an example of both the slideshow & the badge on my Blogger blog. (slideshow is way at bottom of blog page)

I love CoolIris in theory, but rarely use it anymore because I can't deal with how long it takes for images to come into focus. You can always simply view your Smug site in Cool Iris, but yeah, slow focusing is not fun imho.

How do you add the crossdomain.xml from cooliris on a smugmug site? Can we create files with our own names on smugmug?

You cannot create files on Smugmug, but I believe there already is an appropriate crossdomain.xml for flash on Smugmug's site if the right URL is used for the feed. If you search dgrin for crossdomain, you will probably find info on it. I think you may need to pull the feed from api.smugmug.com rather than your own domain, but I don't remember for sure.

Does anybody have any idea how this wordpress managed to embed a SM gallery https://ecorun.ro/galerie/ecomarathon/ ? You can easily browse and search without leaving the site. the only time it leaves the site and goes to SM is when user downloads the image.

I would love to know this as well. I've been searching on how to do this and found a lot of threads where others are asking for this, but no solutions. Obviously, this person was able to do it. So it can be done.....

You will need to install the 'Photonic' plugin from Wordpress.

I installed it on my site just see how it works. All I can say is it works well and there are plenty of custom options. I could not get the square format to display, but I really didn't dive unto it too deep since I'm not going to use it. I noticed this site ( https://ecorun.ro/galerie/ecomarathon/ ) is still using WP 4.9.25, which is several years old, so maybe that why.

Thanks! That is good info. I checked the plugin and it was updated 5 days ago and currently works with WP 6.4.3 Do you know if we need to use the Smugmug API for this as well? I'm just trying to see if I want to dive back into Wp again. I've had several self hosted sites over the years and all come to an end when WP updates, but the plugins I used didn't and I spent more time hacking and band-aiding the site back together and end up getting rid of it. But it has always been in my experience, the best platform to be seen by google so I'm weighing my options.

No, you don't need to use the SM API unless you have a private gallery.

I noticed the developer is very active. he commented about an hour ago (when I looked last night), so if you need help with the plugin, I'm sure he can help.
