So for Class we have two more assignments left and the second to last assignment is Re-Telling Light. Essentially finding an image with lighting (Magazine, movie still, painting, Etc...) you like and then create an image using the same form of light. So I chose a still from Schindler's List. http://www.picktainment.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/oskar-schindler-liam-neeson-schindlers-list.jpg

After spending 5 hours shooting, I found one image in all the photos I took that I loved and I think I came close as far as getting the light down.

C&C please.

I love the shot and processing..great emotion and drama. I am not sure it closely resembles the light from the shot you linked though. The light in that shot appears snooted on the dude face and there is rim light as well. You are missing the rim light, your shadows seem harsher, and the light is all over instead of snooted. If the goal is to try and match the light to an extent, I would 1st try and match portrait composition...the lighting technique can change dramatically between a head shot and a full body.

I don't have a snoot and a friend recommended I use Black Foil. I didn't for this shot which I should've. I guess I didn't get what I wanted but it still looks old classic 50's movie feel to it.
