There is a fifth shot--the one where she proceeds to end the show by pulling her top down. Not posting that one.
In my opinion she stold the show--but I'm seeing this through psycho parent eyes.

Absolute darling set of shots!
Ah the old putting the leotard into the mouth--I'm starting to learn
Thanks for commenting.

I shot this with my 50mm but wished I'd have pulled out a wider lens--the girls next to her were priceless--the pissed off one with her arms folded across her chest and the other one, the one that got cut off with the perfect ballet moves, and my daughter, the embodiment of misery in the middle.
It was all I could do not to burst out laughing.

I laugh everytime I look at this set--glad to see it's getting the same reaction from others.
No I was a performer--danced like a little accordion music monkey on command.
My daughter---well you saw the photos. She can not be coerced--cracks me up---ask me how I feel when she's 15 though.

At least there was the one dancer .

Divamum! Thank you about this series and my card. Somebody told me it looks like a Christmas card for The White Stripes, but I like Wednesday and Pugsley too--same thing really .

I've got to go with #2 as well.... The folded arms as an act of defiance are priceless along with your daughters "Hell no I don't see you" look.
... I'm still peeling potatoes.

Awww thanks:)
love to hear you share the shots with your wife--I do the same.

Thanks Juano--I am .

Sara--funny you say that because out of all the shots, I kind of figured that was the stand-alone shot. I thought the ass framed the picture nicely, actually it's the front, but still. Something to mull over.
Thank you Sara.

If I titled my shots, your title would be spot on, so funny.
The last shot is the one that makes me laugh the most--poor girl looks like she's trying to end it all and I just find it so amusing--issues for therapy later I guess.
The crossed arms make #2 though, I agree--So glad I got most of her in the frame. I swear only little girls can give looks like that.

Sadly no--I would have handed over my cellphone videocamera to my mother-in-law but she was busy being mortified--the topless scene nearly sent her over the edge. Oh to have had it all on video--me taking shots non stop, the "performance" on stage, the look of the parents and my mother-in-law in the front row--priceless.
Glad I have the shots though:)
Thanks Patti.

I love them all too Virginia. It will make a fine addition to my "slices" series.
Funny--as soon as we got home she did the entire performance just for me. She also proudly received and showed off the flowers I gave her after her performance. These will serve as good memories for a long time. Boy am I glad I have chosen to document all these moments.

These picture are so great! You will treasure them forever.
And to give you "hope" (as if any is needed!): Last spring I watched my eldest son perform as Daddy Warbucks during his school's production of Annie...and my mind flashed back to the first time he performed in the parochial school choir with his kindergarten class during a church service.
All the little kindergartners walked up in a group to sing their songs and I was so thrilled because my son was in the front row and I knew he could sing...he'd been singing this song in the bathtub for weeks. (Good acoustics, you know!) They looked so spiffy in their plaid ties and white button-down shirts.
So my son looked up at all of us smiling at him, stirred confidently and looked to his teacher for his cue. The music started, the cue came...and he promptly sat down and picked at the bottom of his shoes. His friends stood and sang...and he rolled over onto his side and looked up at the ceiling.
When the song was over, he stood up and walked off with his class.
His Daddy Warbucks was stellar, however!

That is such a great story. So there is hope?
