Be Social and Facebook

Having some problems with using Be Social with Facebook today. When I use Be Social it posts to my Profle but not to my Wall for some reason. Not sure if the problem is with Facebook or Smugmug. Anyone else having this problem.

Tried using Be Social again this morning, same problem, it posts to my profile page but not to my wall???? I haven't changed anything on Facebook or Smugmug, not sure what's going on here.

Hi Andy, just tried again, used Be Social to post Headlands Dunes Winter 2010, I see it on my profile page, but not on the wall.

Since I have you "friended" on facebook you should see it on both my profile page and your wall.

Andy I'm seeing the post on my profile page just like you've shown above, however it's NOT appearing on my wall or my friends wall like it used to so nobody see's the post unless they happen to go to my facebook profile page. It should be appearing both on my Profile page (like it is) and on the wall News Feed page ( It's Not!) so if it doesn't appear on the News Feed page then not many people see it.

I guess I'm not understanding - that is your wall I posted. That's where I saw the post.

Yes it is showing on my personal page ( I guess that's my wall) and I see it there which is great, but it should also be appearing on the News Feed where all my friends can see it and it's not. If it doesn't appear on the News Feed not many people will see the post. This just started happening, it could be a Facebook issue. Try using Be Social from your Smugmug site and see if appears both on your Facebook page AND in the News Feed for all your friends to see.

I thought the news feed was the page I see combining everyone's postings. No
one else sees this, they only see my wall.

Yes if you post something on your wall it's also supposed to be seen on the News Feed page by all your friends. When I use Be Social, it posts to my wall, but not to the news feed page where everyone can see it. I use Be Social all the time and it used to instantaneously post to both my wall and the news feed page. Now it's only posting to my Wall where nobody see's it unless they visit my page. They should be seeing it on the News Feed page, but it's not posting there.

I have my settings on Facebook set up so what I post on my wall is seen by my friends and their friends, so they should be seeing it on the News Feed page. My Be Social posts used to post on the News Feed page until just recently. Could be a facebook bug. Not sure

I'm thinking that the news feed on Facebook only shows updates from your friends pages and not from your own. I know I never see any of my own updates on that feed. Maybe check with a couple of your friends and see if they see your update on their news feeds.

I thought the same thing that facebook may have changed things so you don't see your own posts on the News feed page but I checked with some of my facebook friends and none of them have seen the last 3 Smugmug Be Social posts on their New Feed, the only way people see the posts now is to go directly to my facebook profile page wall and not many people do that. They said they used to see my Be Social posts all the time but not anymore. Not sure what changed, but I can't promote my Smugmug galleries very well if nobody sees the posts on the News Feed page.

That does sound like a problem on the Be Social end.

I always see my own wall posts on my own newsfeed. But, say I post 5 things in one day-- I don't think every one of those 5 things is going to make it into every one of my friends' newsfeeds. It depends how many friends they have, and how they have their settings fixed. I mean, think about it-- if someone has 500 friends, and even 1/2 those people do one or two actions per day on FB, that person is not going to see every single thing on their newsfeed. FB has some random or perhaps algorithmic way of deciding which things end up in the newsfeed. But yes, you should see most of the things you post in your own newsfeed.

Well it looks like the problem has been fixed, just tried Be Social today and the post is once again appearing on both my wall and on the News Feed page where everyone can see it!
