Question on max image sizes, slideshow, and Stretchy?

Hey everyone, first post, hullo!

I made a test account yesterday to demo this great smugmug thing, and I have to say, I am really impressed so far; smugmug is a stunning service and a community I'm really looking forward to being a member of!

Here's my question:

Is there a suggested max image size you guys recommend? I want to fill a browser's window with as large an image as I can, so I'm open to suggestions on the best way to achieve that. I tried activating the 'Stretchy' option, but I didn't see any changes to the image displays. So far I have two galleries, one contains smaller images I know won't fill the screen, but the larger ones are about 20 inches wide. I had the res set to 150dpi thinking that maybe that would cover them being stretched without pixelation, but I guess this didn't work as the files now show up in 72dpi instead?

Just looking for some advice! Here's a link to the two galleries:

Please don't judge the images, as they're just placeholders!

Thanks, and again, really dig the place. The smugmug team has done a seriously awesome job on the site!

Cheers,
Donovan

dpi has nothing to do with Smugmug display at all.

When you upload images to Smugmug, you should upload the highest quality images you have at full resolution. After you upload them, Smugmug automatically creates seven different smaller sizes that it uses to display on the web. Those are the images you see in your gallery. So, the exact resolution of the images you upload doesn't affect the size of the images Smugmug displays on the web.

When stretchy is enabled in your galleries, this enabled Smugmug to expand the gallery display to fit the full size of the browser window. In the Smugmug viewing style, it will then select the largest pre-made image size that will fit in that window and fill in the rest of the space with thumbnails. If you make the browser window smaller, it will adapt to the new smaller size with smaller images. If you make it larger, it will adapt with larger images.

For the largest images on your display, upload high res images and use the largest browser window possible. If you click on the main image in the Smugmug view, it will give you a single image overlay that will take over the whole window and again pick the largest pre-made image size that will fit.
