Angry Rust

I saw this old john deere tractor at the back of the town museum building. Took some shots and did some pp to highlight the rustic decay. C&C would be very much appreciated. :wink

I love what you captured, but do think they are just a little over-saturated, and perhaps a tad too sharp.

The over-saturated colors and the sharpness was deliberate. I wanted to show the roughness of the way the rust eats its way into the core of the metal parts. That's the catch behind the title "angry rust". I can back off on the colors and the sharpness since I usually shoot in RAW. Thank you for the comment yendikeno.

Thanks Azzaro. Stubborn rust is actually gritty by nature. So, in order for me to "show" how gritty the rust is I decided to add some more sharpness to the image. As I have explained before, in order for me to show the aggressiveness of the rust I over-saturated the colors to make it look very active. If I have overdone it then back to photoshop for me.

Nah! Not over done to a Rust Junky! Just the kind of fix we need.

Thank you, Sir. :ivar

The saturation issue is tough since I didn't see the original real life colors. I accept your choice to ramp it up, but I can help wondering what the alternatives might look like. Is this really about saturation or hue? Don't really know, cause I wasn't there....
Which brings me (a recovering over-saturator, I might add) right back to what your stated intention was. And... I do believe it worked. Sure stirred up some conversation, huh? Kudos on intriguing and provocative images!

Thank you billseye for your comment. This post-processing of mine is just an experiment. I am still finding my style. I do hope that guys at the forum will still comment on my shots so I would know my strengths and weaknesses along the way. Thanks!
