If you remember the movie Good Morning Vietnam one of Robin William's radio bit characters remarked "it's hot damn hot"? That was an understatement and my safe place was behind the tree you see. I love my Tokina 11-16mm lens was a good idea.

I really like #2 with it's shadow of the fireman. Gives the impression there's two of them there. thumb.gif

And the 'casualness' (if that's even a word) of all the fireman amazes me. Almost as if it's boring to them.

Awesome, looks like you got that transformer going boom! are these shot out at your widest angle? I'm thinking of getting a 10-22 or something like it for a wide angle lens.

What you see is an incredibly dangerous situation for a firefighter. These bring back some sad memories for me.

Truth be told M38A1 I didn't even notice the shadow till you made mention of it and I'm very fortunate to have managed that image.

Both of these images where shot at 16mm Freewheel, this is now my primary lens for most of my shots. The Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 is right around $599 and the Tiffen filter set was like $150 or something like that however the price of the filters are very minimal considering the protection that's given. If you give Paul Brown at Adorama a call he's always taken care of me very well even when I need to replace an older lens with the same model that was straight out of the case.

What I can tell you ian408 is that even with full turn out gear on there still was a very healthy respect for what was happening at this incident. We normally don't run on garage fires however there was another fire 2-3 blks from this one that I ran across a very major street without looking to get to this fire, not bad for nearly 50 being the first to make it there. As a former firefighter with no protective gear 9 times out of 10 when I shoot this is a worse case scenario that while I love shooting it's even better to go home the same way I left.
