Boy, have we had snow around here. So I've taken a few shots over the last week and want to run some past you all to see if anything looks like it would work for the challenge. (If not, I'll keep trying!)

Please offer thoughts--I welcome your advice! :D

I know what you mean about the snow--we got 12" on Friday! I like the simplicity and clarity of your first photo.

Love the composition and mystery of #4.

I like #4, although the contrast seems a little harsh. Maybe lightening up the dark tones a little to bring out the shadows. #5 seems to be a most interesting and different subject matter, although I am wondering how it would look with a tighter crop or from a different angle, say, from directly below.

I too, really like #4 --- I think if you can subdue the background just a bit more to really bring out that foreground, that would really strengthen the image.

They each have a different appeal. I am hard pressed to choose a favorite. Well done!

Thank you, everyone! I appreciate the comments.

I'll fiddle with #4 a bit and repost using your suggestions as inspiration.

dls, I appreciate your thought about the basketball hoop. Unfortunately, the weather is finally shifting today and I suspect that there may not be any snow left on the net when I get home. But I'll try out a different crop to see what you think...

OK...two new versions of #4 with less contrast in the background. Was this what you had in mind, Karl and dls?

Slight amount of color layered back on...

I like the one with the bit of coloring added back in. The background is most subtle, the color is barely noticeable (at least on the uncalibrated monitor I'm looking at this on) and the overall feel to the image is peaceful. thumb.gif
