After the snowstorm

I shot this wedding in Yosemite the day after a massive storm in Yosemite. There was more snow than I expected, but beautiful blue skies early on. Check my website for the story on how they surprised their family with the wedding (and lots more photos).

    4 & 8. Love!

Talk about 5: PP? Motion blur? Added grain? Dragged shutter? Curious :D

Yep I drugged the shutter on #4 and things got a little sloppy. 1/13th at f14. I like to shoot walking with the couple to get a little more emotion. The problem is I took about thirty frames and this is the only one that comes even close to be usable. But so what, I only need one right? I do wish I had all of her flowers in... oh well. As a side note, walking backwards through two foot snow is a great way to get your clients to smile and laugh (at you).

PP consists of adding contrast back in (the slight solar flare adds flavor, but subtracts contrast) and grain to mask the fact that the photo is far from sharp :)

Patrick, you mean you dragged the shutter on #5, not #4.

#4 has me shaking my fist at the computer right now; I'm so jealous of your locality! I gotta get the heck outta Orange County and head outdoors. I need to pick a small town just outside a national park, and let my spirit free. With each suburban / indoor wedding that goes by, I'm getting more and more burnt out... Your work is very inspiring...

Thanks Matt! Yeah, I mixed up the numbers when responding - you're correct.

It's funny you say that about getting burned out shooting in suburban indoor weddings. I feel like I'm getting burned out shooting nothing but nature. I love to play with lines and cool architecture (and night time street scenes, I love that) but I rarely have a paid chance. For me, its just become a personal challenge to approach nature shots like I would an urban shoot.
