I've been browsing and commenting for a couple of months. Trying to keep up on all the cool stuff I'm seeing and keeping a list of things to try... to learn... to master.
I recently bought a 100mm macro lens, and I'm sorry to say, haven't been using it as much as I expected. This stacked focus layers technique is fascinating.

You should try it out more. Sometimes the results are quite surprising. For example this is the setup for this shot, although it's a different flower there. It doesn't look very impressive does it?
Quite often, when I'm shooting these I think "This will never work out", but somehow it usually does. I think it's because a macro lens can isolate everything else but the essential.
