help with ball head purchase?

I might buy the Slik pro 780 DX tripod later.
I`m an amateur but any brand of head can be used with it right?

I was thinking of getting the vanguard sbh-250 or sbh-300. Any thoughts?

    I am not familiar with the tripod you are looking at but I picked up Vanguard SBH-300 ball heads last year. It's not a high end one but for the money I really like it. It continues to work very well for me. It comes with both the 1/4" and 3/8" thread adapters so it should work with most tripods.
